Samsung has bid a sweet good-bye to its predecessor Galaxy S5 with the two latest models in the Galaxy series, Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Edge versions. The two phones aimed to rediscover the falling fortunes of Samsung, which has been somewhat captured by the likes of Apple, Lenovo and Xiaomi pack a punch with some exquisite features. Both the phones were announced at the Mobile World Congress and surely the buzz had sharpened from Day 1 of the announcement.
The latest Galaxy smart phones will be available for purchase in India from the 10th of April, although people can pre-order the phone from a certain section of websites. The phones have also been put up under a special plan, where-in if a customer has booked the phone at a certain price and if the price of the phone drops or if any cashback scheme is introduced by the company, the privileged customers will be entitled to get the difference back in the form of Payback points. This surely gives a certain amount of security to a limited section of buyers.
The two phones which will be available in 3 different variants i.e. 32GB, 64GB and 128GB have been done away with removable batteries unlike the previous Samsung mobile phones. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has been priced at Rs. 49,900 and the Edge price is Rs. 58,900. Both the phones have been supported by a powerful 64 bit Octa-core processor coupled with a 3GB Ram. The latest Galaxy models have very little differences between each other. The big difference although lies in the Edge sporting a dual-edge display which gives the smartphone a sleek look. The phones are also boosted by the presence of Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.
The S6 sports a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for clicking those perfect selfies. The smartphones come loaded with a sleuth of camera features giving both of them edge over the other models. The notable ones being slow motion, auto real time HDR, high clear zoom and much more. The flash also doubles up as a sensor which enables you to monitor your heart rate. Samsung also plans to introduce the Samsung Pay feature, much like Apple Pay through the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Fingerprint scanning has been around for a while, but no smartphone could really do justice to this feature. The latest Galaxy models come with an enhanced fingerprint scanner on the homepage to appropriately guard it. Such high-end models often fail when it comes to the battery power, Samsung plans to overturn that by giving 2500 mAh battery and 2600 mAh battery respectively in both the models. Check out detailed specifications of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
The phones certainly seem to have been shaped up well for the market, although it is still very early to give a verdict whether the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge will topple the market and resurrect the dipping fortunes of the company or it will fizzle away in the heap.
