Nowadays, Pinterest Save Button is very-very popular to share images on Pinterest. Many blogs have implemented the Pinterest Pin It button for images. You can also use a Pinterest button for Blogger/Blogspot on your blog.
In this article, I will cover how to add a Pinterest Save button on Blogspot. Add a pin it button will help readers to save a blog post image, post title, and post permalink on their Pinterest dashboard.
Ways to Add a Pinterest Save Button
You can add a Pinterest pin it button for images on Blogger/Blogspot in two different ways.
1. Add share buttons on blog posts
2. Add an official Pinterest Save Button from Pinterest Developers
Add Share Buttons On Blog Posts
1. Go to Blogger Dashboard › Select blog › Layout
2. Edit on Blog Posts gadget (Click on Edit Pencil) › Check Show share buttons > Save changes
Now you and readers can see the share button for Blogger just below the post title or at the end of posts. It will depend on your blog theme settings.
Add An Official Pinterest Save Button
You can add Pinterest save button using the Pinterest code. This button will be visible over images added to a blog post.
1. Go to Blogger Dashboard › Theme › Three verticle dots on right side › Edit HTML
2. Paste the following script just above </body> tag
<script async defer data-pin-hover="true" data-pin-tall="true" src="//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js"></script>
3. Press the floppy button to save changes
4. A Pinterest save button will appear on the images when you will hover the cursor over it.
5. You can customize the button shape at Pinterest widget builder.
Conclusion
After completing all steps explained above, you can see a Pinterest pin it button for images or save button on your blog that works perfectly for each post.
Helpful tip. I love Pinterest and miss the Pin button on many websites
Most welcome on Tech Prevue :)
Thank you for wonderful information provided
What if you don’t have the body tag anywhere in your HTML code? I searched with command F and it is not in my HTML code. Thanks
There is no web page without body and HTML tags.
Kindly find your code in the Blogspot HTML, not on the browser window.
Follow the steps closely.
Dear Sir, Madam
I would like to set a Pinterest button under my words. Can you help me because my blogger has a dynamic view?
Many greetings
Catherine Boone
Blogger does not allow JS customization in Dynamic view.
thank you
Thanks for such clear and efficient instructions. This code has been working perfectly for some time; however, in the past three days, the Pinterest hover button has disappeared with no explanation as the code has not changed at all. Any idea why that could be, please?
Thank you so much for this! This was really helpful for my blog!
Hello, what if I want to add the save button to a specific image? Not in every image on each post? I try these tips, and all images have a hover save button, including the blog banner. Thank you.
At the last step in this guide (step 5), click on “widget builder” to go to Pinterest dev site, then choose: Button type > One Image. It will show you example code to edit with your image URL.
Thanks a lot for this information! I had no idea how to add the button, followed your instructions on how to get the official in button, and it worked like a charm!
